We'll be meeting with the builder this Saturday to go over the changes to the roof. Hopefully we can come to some sort of resolution that I am happy with!

Roof problems
Today I was looking at the finalized plans and found a problem with the roof design. Unfortunately the builder is out on vacation this week but I sent an email anyway. Hopefully next week we can get the problem resolved.

We spent the weekend looking at paint samples again. This time for the kitchen. We also looked at countertop finishes (laminates, granite, etc). And finally flooring. Tried to get samples online of the flooring.
Here is the flooring I want to use throughout the house:

My wife and I went to Home Depot and picked out a bunch of paint swatches for the house. After much deliberation this is the paint scheme we came up with:
SIDING
FRONT DOOR
FRONT BEAM AND INNER DOORS
I did a super quickie mockup of the colors in Photoshop

Saw my first Eichler and met with Monique Lombardelli of Modern Homes Realty
I just returned from a business trip to the SF bay area and got to walk inside my very first Eichler! It was a cute little all-original model. I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Monique Lombardelli of Modern Homes Realty, who is who I bought my Eichler plans from. I drove through many neighborhoods full of Eichlers. I knocked on a couple doors but nobody wanted to show off their house. :-( I saw SO many variations of Eichlers, but I didn't get the chance to find one like the one I'm building. I think they are all up north maybe in the San Rafael area.
Anyway, cool trip and it was a pleasure meeting you Monique!

Met with the builder!
Yesterday I met with the builder to go over the plans and various details. They were extremely nice, and enthusiastic about the project. I also gave the architect a deposit to begin his work on updating the plans for Virginia code.

Cool Eichler article that mentions me
http://curbed.com/archives/2015/01/20/desert-eichler-palm-springs-troy-kudlac.php#more
I am mentioned in passing:
"Lombardelli has fielded inquiries about her blueprints from Florida, Colorado, London, France, Brazil, and Australia, as well as from a man in Virginia."
Very cool! Can't wait to see their finished house!

Introducing the Architect
Yay! The builder met with an architect and he is willing to take on the project. He is going to spend the next couple of days going over the plans and then we plan on discussing. Progress!
